He nods slowly at her explanation, his fingers still tapping absently against the mug clutched in his hand. Larry knows his mistakes with Jamie had ultimately been the cause of their separation. And maybe Ally doesn’t want to sleep with him because she isn’t the last person he saw naked. His heart sinks slightly and he hides it with another gulp of his coffee.
He didn’t want to hinge their entire relationship on sex, but it was a bit difficult for him to go without it for so long. And he didn’t want to bother her with it because it really is his fault. Instead of verbalizing his inner reprimands, he pecks her on the cheek and downs the rest of his coffee. Once the mug is emptied, he takes it over to the sink and rinses it out so it would be somewhat clean for his next cup.
Ally raises a brow slightly at his silence, before scratching behind her ear once he’d gotten up to take his mug to the sink. Everything was still shaky for them, while s u r e, things so far were going good – in the back of her mind, she was always wondering if she was oversharing or saying something that would upset him. After a moment or two of unnecessary d w e l l i n g, she clears her throat and stands from her stool noiselessly, before also carrying her cup to the sink.
“Alright – I should get going…” She murmurs simply, while setting her cup down into the sink as well, before walking back to grab her briefcase off of the floor in which she’d set it down at. Where they were concerned, or at least for her, sex was the least of their worries… their marriage had an u n c a n n y habit of falling apart at the seams and she didn’t want it to happen again. Part of her hesitation was that, yes, she wasn’t the last woman he’d seen naked – but it went deeper than that, in so many different ways.
