With his phone clutched in his hand as he watches their daughter sleep soundly, he reads her messages and frowns. Not only was it rude of the man to ask her to show up on her day off, but it was quite a bit worse that he was late. Feeling irritated with the man for robbing him of his morning with his wife, he punches out a message and sends it with a few quick taps.
The irritation he felt was probably in large part to the fact that he hadn’t been intimate with her for so long. But he also had missed out on a month, arguably six months, with both his wife and his kids. Granted, her deposition would only keep her from him for a few hours, the man showing up late would delay her homecoming even more. It was just common decency to show up on time– especially after requesting such an inconvenient time for the meeting.
[SMS]: Thats rude of him…
[SMS]: Wait fifteen more minutes then come home :)
At his response, Ally lets out a heavy sigh and glances towards the elevator on their floor, as if that would make the guy show up any sooner. She’d give the guy a few more m i n u t e s, before calling him, and if nothing came of that effort; she’d go home. Ally was doing this guy a favor by coming in on a weekend, something she’d rarely done for the past five to six years, unless she was just coming in to work on paperwork or to pick something up she had f o r g o t t e n. With a clearing of her throat, she looks back down at her phone and begins quickly typing up her response.
[ SMS ]: Rude is one way to put it…
[ SMS ]: Had I known he was going to be late – I wouldn’t have rushed up here. :|
With that, Ally flips to the clients number at the front of the file, before reaching for her office phone to call the man. Forget giving it a few minutes, she’d already waited nearly ten minutes on the man, so might as well make the call right away rather than later. After a few rings, the phone is picked up and she’s b a r k e d at rather abruptly by the cranky client, her jaw clenched tight as she introduces herself and asks whereabouts the guy was at. At that point, both opposing council and client were now waiting outside her office as she taps her pin in clear irritation. “Okay look, I scheduled this deposition per your demand – I am up here, as is the other party. If you are NOT up here by half past the hour, I’m rescheduling this and you will have to wait until I have an opening or you can seek other council, plain and simple.” She states smoothly, before hanging up and standing from her chair to inform the others.
