He feels the iciness of her stare and shuts the door behind her. He understands Renee’s loyalty to Ally and it’s nice that she has a friend who is always on her side no matter what. Despite his understanding, he still feels himself well with guilt every time he sees Renee. Because in her eyes, he’s the man who cheated on her best friend and he can see her point of view on the matter. With a strained laugh, he goes over to let the dogs into the house.
“Anyone will have a hard time beating you guys. You spend all your free time playing. I was just being optimistic.” He locks the door once the dogs have barreled their way over to Renee in greeting. “Can I get you anything? A water?” He asks her, trying to remain as friendly as he possibly can in the circumstances. He knows she is aware of most of the turmoil in his and Ally’s relationship. Which makes it slightly awkward for him.
Where Renee was concerned, it wasn’t just this particular incident. While sure she was peeved that after all of the shoe hovering, that Larry had cheated on her oldest friend, it was that this was not the first time in which he had been the s o u r c e of Allison’s pain. It was her responsibility to dislike the person who hurt her best friend, and given that they were all obviously f r i e n d s, it made everything far more awkward – and with that thought in mind, Renee smiles politely over at Larry before nodding.
“Sure, water would be nice.” She states as she gives each of their family pets their fair share of pets, before standing to walk over to the couch so that she could ruffle both of the boys’ hair. “Yep, you two are the m a s t e r s, I will probably spend more time watching you guys play if we’re being completely honest.” Renee then offers, while looking around the room with her brows scrunched slightly. “So – where is Ally?”
