Matthew looks down at his mom, and then over to his dad. His brother was gone. His family in shambles. He takes one last look at his family before walking down the hallway in a daze, in search of something and nothing at all. When he finds an empty chair in a quiet corner, he sits, staring down at the floor and barely breathing.

“Matty..” Larry gasps, tears staining his face as he watches his son walk away without a word. Larry sees him take a seat and he crouches down to the floor with his wife, pulling her into his arms in search of some kind of support. Although he knows nothing can change the fact that their son is gone, he knows they can’t afford to fold in on themselves.

Ally leans into him, crying against her husband with a pain that she’d never felt before radiating within her entire body. They had gone through a miscarriage, and that was unbelievably heart wrenching, but something about this was DIFFERENT. Julian was gone, he’d never beg her to go to the park, or try to sneak an extra cookie from the package behind her back, she’d never hear his carefree laughter radiate from his room.

“Oh god, Larry…” She gasps, clinging to him with everything she had left in her. The blonde had forgotten about Rob, she was acutely aware that Katie was somehow still sleeping, completely unaware of what was going on around them. She always knew that Matthew had gotten up and gone just a little ways down the hallway. The doctor pushed himself from his chair, quietly, moving over to Matty; though he kept his distance, choosing to give Larry and Ally their time alone.
