When a nurse notifies him that someone will be with them shortly, Larry trudges silently back to his wife and daughter. He stares down at her, Ally’s words carving out what semblance of composure he had gained in the last few minutes and his face crumples again, tears sliding easily down his face. Parents are supposed to outlive their children.

Julian had been through so much. As the oldest, he was there when he and Ally couldn’t make their marriage work. He waited patiently for his parents to get with the program and find each other again. He was there when Ally had trouble having a second and even a third child. Their son.. no longer with them, taken. Stolen from their arms.

Ally brings a hand up to wipe the tears from her eyes, so that she could at least attempt to regain some sort of composure. If that was at all possible. She suspected that there would plenty of moments such as the one she’d had. Her breathing is shaky, and instead of continuing to look down at Katie, the blonde turns her head to rest it against the cushion of the seat as he body shakes slightly.

“This isn’t how it’s supposed to go. Parents aren’t suppose to bury their children, so WHY? What’s wrong with this world? Why do bad people continuously walk the earth, but my son was taken from us? I don’t understand.” She breathes to herself, her uninjured arm then moving to wrap around her middle, as if to hold herself together in during her moments of weakness. Ally didn’t consider herself an overly religious person, though during times just as the nightmare they were currently stuck in, she desperately searched for a reason; for anything to help her make sense of it all.
