Larry’s hand lingers on her cheek a moment longer before he drops it and takes his seat in the waiting chairs. He adjusts Matthew in his lap and simply holds him protectively, the boy silent and still against him. He peers down to see Katie close to drifting off again and he scoots her carrier closer to him.
He wasn’t sure what to do at this point. He felt as though a thick haze had settled over him, obscuring anything and everything. The stark lighting in the hospital seemed dull, colors less vibrant. He buries his face into Matthews hair and sighs, feeling the boy begin to shiver. Larry does his best to soothe him, but there’s little he can do.
With that, Rob guides the blonde towards an examination room within the ER. Each step she took felt as if she was dragging her feet through quicksand, it hardly seemed that she was moving at all. Ally hardly noticed when she’d taken a seat on the bed within the room, her arm then being examined by a silent Rob at that point. Every now and again, she’d wince as the doctor began cleaning the wound, though she kept her eyes on the floor.
“Ally… I can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through right now, but I wanted to tell you that I’m sorry.” Rob says, pausing briefly in his movements as he examines the wound before deducing that it would need stitches to keep it closed at that point. With a grunt, he wheels the chair he’d sat in over to the storage cabinet to retrieve the various items that he’d need, before hearing her clear her throat. “You have no reason to be sorry, Robert… you didn’t have the guns that it wasn’t your fault.”
