Larry clears the lump in his throat with a quiet grunt and swallows thickly. “Alright.” He’d gone pale at his brother’s words, keeping Ally tucked close to him. “I guess we should get the kids home..” he says quietly, trying not to dwell on the fact that they would be returning home with one less child. He clenches his jaw and holds back his tears. He couldn’t cry anymore. Not today.

Larry nods and heaves a sigh, turning away from the room and heading back to the elevator with Ally in tow. He presses the call button frantically as he tries to keep himself from breaking down again. “I can’t believe we have to do this. I can’t believe this happened. We can’t possibly have to bury our son. This isn’t real.” He swats at the button one more time before the doors finally open and he forced himself to step on while trying to ignore the deep, bottomless pain in his chest.

Ally remains quiet, fearful that if she was to vocalize her thoughts, she’d lose it again but she was feeling a sense of numbness washing over her. She was currently emotionally overloaded and was just simply going through the motions without actually processing anything around her. Once the elevator doors slid open, the blonde pauses to look back towards the morgue, her heart aching as she swallows back her tears.

A second later, she steps onto the elevator and leans back against the wall, her hands coming up to cover her face as she takes a few slow breaths. ‘… I can’t fix this …’ No matter how much she wished that she could trade places with Julian, she was helpless and completely out of control, at the mercy of fate. With deep breath, she drops arms to her sides, her head leaning back against the elevator wall as she stares up at the elevator ceiling.
