Larry closes his eyes and nuzzles her hair gently, pushing all thoughts of their son out of his mind. He was good at avoiding things, but he knew that this was entirely different. He could only escape the pain of his son’s death for so long before it crept up behind him and dragged him back down into the pit of despair that would soon be his permanent home.

He stays silent and listens to the sound of her even breaths, feeling the warmth of her skin against him. He didn’t have a clue what they were going to do about Julian’s funeral and he would avoid that responsibility as much as possible, but until the time came that they actually had to do something about it, he wouldn’t think about it.

       She hadn’t ever put much thought into the possible funerals of their children, perhaps foolish, considering their families track record. Though the blonde viewed doing something like that to be tempting fate. She was quite frankly dreading the call from Rob in the morning, because once that call came, then they’d have to start preparing to say goodbye to their sweet boy.

Ally’s eyes remain closed as the exhaustion of the evening and the turmoil her soul was in settles for the time being. The only comfort she had at the moment, was knowing that she wasn’t alone. She’d be following the ‘One Step at a Time, ‘motto for the foreseeable future, though in this case, her body was dragging her into an unsettled sleep.
