“Yeah. That sounds pretty accurate.” Neither of them were very good at getting enough sleep when horrible things happened. Insomnia seemed to be their main coping mechanism and he was sure that neither of them would get much rest in the coming days. The least they could do was try. Larry heaves himself off the couch and takes her hand to pull her with him.
He pauses for a moment, reaching up to wipe her tears away and leaning down to give her a tender kiss. His thumb runs over her cheek a few times as he stares down at her, the sadness in her eyes reflecting the ache in his chest. “I wish I could say something that would help. But I know there isn’t anything either of us can say or do to make this any less difficult.”
“You being here is helping. I don’t know if I could handle this if it weren’t for you… does it make it better? No, but at least we have each other.” Ally states, her eyes staring into his, her head tilting slightly as she presses her lips into a firm line. “I don’t think things are going to be alright for a while, but we’ll get through it.” With that statement, she leans up to press another delicate kiss to her husband’s lips.
She knew that they were both just barely holding it together and there was going to be plenty of moments in which the bottom of their strength fell out, leaving them feeling as if they were being torn to shreds. With a sigh, she lets her eyes fall closed, her hands moving to to rest onto his chest.
