He leans into her touch, trying to gain control of his erratic breathing. This wasn’t something he expected to have to do. His kids were supposed to love long and happy lives, without the threat of some scumbag coming along and shooting them on their way home from the park. After several minutes, he pulls back minutely and kisses her forehead. After a thought, he reaches up and wipes her tears away gently.
“What if we move somewhere safer? Just get the hell out of here.” He poses, not wanting to leave the home they built. But if this is the kind of thing that happens in their neighborhood, he couldn’t allow his other two children to be subject to it. He would never forgive himself if something happened to them because he was too stubborn to leave.
“… What?” She asks after a moment or two of puzzled silence. Ally had briefly contemplating moving in the past, though considering that this was the house where their children had all their memories. The house had all of their memories, the good, the bad, and the ugly. “Where?” She asks, her brows furrowing slightly as she rests her hands on either side of Larry’s waist. Of course, she didn’t think they were in any shape to be making life changing decisions.
First they had to get through the next week or so and that alone was going to be difficult enough. “… I don’t know, I mean I guess after … we can talk about it further. Probably wouldn’t be a horrible idea, but ” she pauses, unable to finish her sentence. They had to focus on burying their son first, as much as she wanted to bury the thought and wanted for it to not be true, that was their reality.
