The blood drains from his face when he hears his phone ringing from down the hallway. His eyes dart to Ally’s before he lifts himself from the ground, his movements deliberately slow. When he reaches his office, he answers the phone, not prepared for what was to come next. The funeral arrangements and condolences. He didn’t want any of it.
He clears his throat of all emotion and answers quietly. “Hello.” If at all possible, he felt even worse than he did moments before. Once he’s done speaking with his brother, he would have to find his nerve to start planning his son’s funeral. The thought of burying Julian makes tears spring to his eyes and he quickly rubs them to keep himself from dissolving into tears again.
There’s a pause from the other end of the phone as Rob stands in front of the window in his office. This call was one that he was dreading since the previous night when Julian had been declared dead after many failed attempts to resuscitate him. Though despite his feelings of unease, he’d promised his brother that he’d be the one to call and not some stranger. “Hey Larry… just wanted to let you know that the coroner has finished and he’ll be transporting Julian within the next hour or so…” He says, while resting his forehead against the window seal.
Ally shifts to lift Matthew with her good arm and carries the little boy over to the couch with her as she press a kiss to his temple. “I love you, buddy…” The blonde whispers against him, her breathing still shaky from her previous breakdown. Her eyes flick occasionally towards Larry’s office, half hoping that it was just one of their associates or a telemarketer, though she knew that once Larry came back that things would change yet again.
