When he feels her fingers close around him, he tightens his grip on her and nods. “You and me both.” He says with a sigh. As she unbuckles herself, he does the same and he slowly climbs out of the car with deliberately prolonged movements. He walks around to open her door for her and helps her out of the vehicle. “We just need to make it through the next hour.” He says reassuringly.
Larry holds onto his wife’s hand tightly as he walks them into the building without haste. Once inside, he can feel the dread getting closer, reaching inside him and threading around his rapidly beating heart. They stand in a morose, nondescript lobby containing a front desk, and minimally decorated walls that showcase images of past funerals.
“Yeah… one hour.” She murmurs softly to herself before climbing out of the car once he’d opened up her door for her. The blonde swallows back the lump that quickly lodged itself into the back of her throat and squeezes his hand as well, her heart speeding up as she felt anguish within each step she took towards the building. There was no turning back, she knew that, though it didn’t stop her from wishing that they could.
Once inside, she felt a slight chill ripple through her as her eyes take in the lobby of the funeral home. She had nothing to gauge the experience from, though the lack of decor fit her mental image of what it’d look like. Void of personality, a lack of actual life. It seemed fitting, considering the unfortunate circumstances. With a sigh, she looks around once more, before spotting who she’d assume was a worker coming out of a room down the hall. “Excuse me? H-hello...?”
