Larry stands with her and holds onto her tightly, kissing the top of her head and reaching up to wipe her tears away. He knew there was next to nothing they could do. There was nothing they could say to each other to make this any better or make it go away. Instead, he listens, nodding slowly and placing another stabilizing kiss on the top of her head. “I know, sweetheart. It’s okay.”

He wraps her in a warm hug and rests his chin on top of her head. “We can go back inside when you’re ready, okay?” He revels in the warmth of her embrace and keeps her as steady as he can. He knew this wouldn’t be the last of her breakdowns and he was far from okay either. It would take them years to move on from this and he wasn’t ready for the lasting pain that their son’s death would bring.

Once again, the blonde nods slowly at his words, her arms looping around him as she lets out a sigh. She knew they were in for a long and painful road. Grief had a funny way of picking and choosing the right times to rip any sort of resolve to shreds. She would be a fool to think this would be the last time she lost it, though the only thing she could hope for, was that the next episode wouldn’t be quite as draining as the one she’d just gone through.

“I’m about as ready as I’m going to get…” She murmurs, the exhaustion she felt translated in the tone of her voice. With a sigh, she pulls back to look up at him and scrunches her face slightly, before looking back at the door of the funeral home. “After all of this is said and done, I’d prefer to never have to come back to this place ever again…” Ally states.
