He nods as he follows his wife through the building and into the funeral home’s viewing area. The room is filled with different sized coffins of a wide variety of woods and materials lining the inside. She leads them over to where the smaller coffins are located, standing next to a particularly luxurious looking one with a dark mahogany coat and silvery, silk interior. “This one is made of mahogany, it can be sized to your specifications..”

A the woman drones on about the make of the coffin, Larry steadies himself against his wife, his hand dropping hers and instead moving to rest around her shoulders. He pulls her close to his side as he stares unseeingly ahead, not taking in a word of what the woman was saying. His only hope was that this was their last step so they could leave this dreadful place.

       Ally hardly hears the words coming from the woman’s mouth as she stares down at the casket, her head nodding every once in a while. Her eyes then sweep around the room at the assortment of coffins, and sucks in a deep breath, her eyes beginning to water as she leans against her husband. “Uh, this one will be fine…” She states, effectively cutting the woman off mid-sentence.

“We’ll take this one. What else do you need to know?” Ally asks, her hand coming up to rub vigorously at her face as she wills herself to remain strong, if even for just a little bit. Neither of them wanted to imagine their son in a coffin, they didn’t want to be dealing with any of this, no amount of planning would change the fact that Julian was gone.
